
Trade welcomes broadcast ruling
Licensees hoping to save cash on live football after Euro judgement

"We have endeavoured to promote and fight legal battles in the UK courts so that publicans can and will have the right to show football on European broadcast viewing cards," he said. "We are glad about the decision in the European court, which will allow UK publicans to save thousands of pounds per year."

October 27 2011 by Scott WrightOperators are switching off Sky in favour of cheaper alternatives after the use of foreign decoders was declared legal by the European Court of Justice.
George Peachey, of satellite TV company Kanel, said suppliers can overcome such moves by "choosing a broadcaster that doesn't show EPL logos" or supplying customers with "radio broadcasted commentary, as long as the publican has a PRS licence".
